OT Bond Universal is a self-etch, single-component, light-curing adhesive engineered for outstanding versatility. It delivers reliable bonding to dentin, enamel, composites, glass ceramics, and metal, making it an ideal all-in-one solution for modern restorative dentistry.
Formulated with 10-MDP, phosphoric acid methacrylate esters, and maleic acid-modified methacrylates, OT Bond Universal gently etches dentin and enamel in an aqueous environment, creating both chemical and micromechanical retention. These active monomers chemically interact with hydroxyapatite, forming durable bonds with calcium ions.
During application, the smear layer is dissolved, and intertubular dentin is partially demineralized, while the adhesive penetrates deep into the tubules to form strong resin tags. The result is a stable hybrid layer and long-lasting adhesion between tooth structure and restorative material..
INDICATION
- Universal self-etch adhesive – designed for reliable bonding in all dental cavity classes using resin restoratives.
- Bonding of Glass ceramics ex E-max veneers
- Bonding of orthodontics Brackets.
- Protective cervical varnish – ensures effective shielding of sensitive cervical tooth areas.
- Versatile luting system – ideal for securing indirect restorations with composite, compomer, and ceramic materials in combination with dual-cure cements.
MODE OF APPLICATION
Tooth Preparation
Prepare the cavity using standard clinical techniques. Remove all compromised tissue carefully. The prepared surface should maintain a slight glossy appearance.
Etching
For enhanced adhesion on enamel, additional selective etching is recommended before applying the adhesive.
Unprepared enamel should be thoroughly cleaned with polishing paste or an intraoral sandblasting device. Etch using a standard gel for 15–20 seconds.
Prepared enamel may also be selectively etched to reinforce bonding. Apply etching gel to enamel margins and overhanging edges for 15–20 seconds, rinse thoroughly, and gently air dry without overdrying or use OT Primer before the adhesive for optimum results and then you could heavily dry.
ADHESIVE APPLICATION AND RESTORATION PROCEDURE
Apply OT Bond Universal with a brush rubbing well into the prepared cavity.
Wait 20–25 seconds. Dry with air for 5 seconds. Do not rinse. Light-cure for 10–20 seconds. Then, perform the restoration with light-curing composite materialsneither directly or indirectly. Follow the instructions of the material manufacturer.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Using with double or chemical curing resins.
- patients with an allergic reaction to methacrylates.
WARNING
Eugenol-free compatibility, OT Bond delivers optimal polymerization; avoid eugenol-based products that could compromise its strength.
